A sold-out event at The Sawyer Family Farm on July 21, 2018, raised more than $40,000 for Blue Ridge School and Early College and other youth organizations on the Plateau. Guests enjoyed bluegrass music by Crooked Pine Band, square dancing called by Joe Sam Queen, line dancing led by Danie Beck, a performance by the Blue Ridge JAM kids and a great barbecue dinner catered by “On the Side Barbeque”.

Of the funds raised at the event, $26,000 was donated to Blue Ridge School Education Foundation and matched by an anonymous donor to the Foundation. Remaining funds were added to Mountain Youth Charities’ “Fund for Great Programs for Great Children.” Grants to JAM and Hampton Preschool have already been committed from that fund. More grants will be made in the coming months in response to grant applications from local organizations.

We are extremely grateful to our sponsors and generous donors and to all who made the event such a success.
